Norafriends

About us

In 2009, SebleWongol Kefele embarked on a transformative journey to the village of Darsilami, nestled along the scenic West African coast in The Gambia. Witnessing firsthand the stark reality of children and young people, many under the age of 14, who lacked basic literacy skills, Seble was deeply moved to take action.

Upon returning to her home in Holmestrand, Norway, Seble, fueled by a passionate desire for change, joined forces with five like-minded women to establish NorAfriends. United in their commitment to making a difference, they embarked on a mission to bring hope and opportunity to the children of Darsilami.

At the heart of Seble’s vision was the ambitious goal of building and operating a school in Darsalami, Gambia, to provide essential education and empower future generations. Drawing from her roots in Ethiopia and her experiences in Norway, Seble infused NorAfriends with a spirit of compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication.

Today, NorAfriends stands as a testament to Seble’s enduring legacy—a beacon of hope for communities in need, bridging continents and cultures to create meaningful change. Guided by Seble’s vision and fueled by the collective passion of its members, NorAfriends continues to make a profound impact on the lives of children and families in Darsilami and beyond
